Rapid 5

The future is connected, innovative and green!

With our "heart-of-it-all" location near downtown, The Ohio State University, OSU Wexner Medical Center, and two of our region's major rivers, Grandview Heights sits at the confluence of the developing vision for the future of Central Ohio.

From this page, you can access links to the most significant initiatives underway for our region.

Currently, there are three major initiatives underway that have the potential to significantly impact Grandview Heights:

  • The Rapid 5 Project, through which ULI Columbus and MORPC worked with design and planning professionals through an expansive community input process to develop a vision for an integrated open space network in central Ohio. This initiative was focused around how best to use our natural assets to benefit our economy, manage growth, provide access for recreation, education, and health, and preserve natural resources and environmental health. Located at the confluence of the Scioto and Olentangy Rivers, and with frontage on both, Grandview Heights may see new opportunities not recognized for decades to more fully engage with these waterways.

  • LinkUS is Central Ohio’s transformational and comprehensive prosperity and mobility initiative. LinkUS is a collaborative initiative co-sponsored by the City of Columbus, Central Ohio Transit Authority, the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission, and the Franklin County Board of Commissioners, meant to provide equitable mobility options for residents and visitors, ensure access to jobs and affordable housing, promote economic growth and improve sustainability. The Northwest Corridor BRT service will run up Olentangy River Road, with likely stops at Goodale Boulevard and West Third Avenue, connecting Grandview Heights to destinations throughout the Greater Columbus Area and surrounding suburbs.

  • The Ohio State University Innovation District will be a collaborative space on the west campus of Ohio State meant to bring together students, academic researchers, city leaders, Fortune 500 businesses and new start-ups. Ohio State and the City of Columbus have partnered on this initiative, which has the potential to super-charge our region's capacity to innovate, particularly around technical and biomedical research. Just a mile from Grandview Heights, we anticipate both new residents and new business opportunities to evolve from this initiative.

Various initiatives may be seeking input from community members - please check back often and plan to participate, to make sure our voices are in the conversation!
