Wyman Woods

Dearly loved in every season, Wyman Woods Park is central to our park system here in Grandview Heights. Originally dedicated in 1954, by the turn of the 21st century, the Wyman Woods shelter house was in need of investment. Additionally, when subject to heavy rains, much of the park would flood, creating challenging conditions during the high use seasons of spring and summer.

Building on recommendations from our 2007 Parks Master Plan, this major capital investment project included expanded parking and a new vehicular turn-around, new storm-tech chambers to alleviate flooding in the athletic field area, a new multi-use pathway, and an all-new naturalistic playground for the park areas. Additionally, the project also included substantial improvements to the shelter house, including a new mechanical system, new large sliding wood doors to replace prior garage doors, all new interior finishes, new kitchenette and new restrooms, new roof and exterior finishes, and many other improvements.

These improvements complement other natural areas of the park, including the woods themselves, our sledding hill, and the story boards along park walking paths, curated by the Grandview Heights Public Library.
