THE NEED

As a small full-service city, Grandview Heights has sought to diversify its economic base in pursuit of robust and resilient revenue streams. These support our high quality City services and capacity to invest in needed infrastructure and City facilities.

In light of recent and ongoing changes related to the COVID-19 pandemic, the City seeks to continue to build on past successes, to manage expected tax revenue impacts, and to develop strategies for continued economic success into the future.

Aimed at setting broad parameters, objectives and implementation strategies to protect, preserve and enhance our community’s physical character and quality of life, the Grandview Heights 2019 Master Plan established the need for further investment in strategic economic development planning.

The formal Economic Development Strategic Plan will reflect and be complementary to One Columbus’ Strategic Plan, while also taking into account the special character, opportunities and goals of the City of Grandview Heights. We will explore regional trends and how those things will impact and present opportunities for Grandview Heights as our community changes and evolves, as well.

FOCUS AREAS

While this study will be broad, providing recommendations for the City overall, we are also focusing on key areas that are experiencing redevelopment opportunities, in order to best leverage interest in our community to serve the needs of the City, as we in turn serve the needs of our residents and community overall.

How can we facilitate evolution and improvement in this district, focusing on economic self-sufficiency and quality of life enhancements for our community? How is this corridor is evolving, what are its market pressures and particular opportunities, and how do those vary by sub-area / parcel, business / market sector, or other consideration, along the corridor?Capitalizing on the adjacent redevelopment of Grandview Crossing, how can we foster a "highest and best" vision for transformation of this area, focusing on financial impact and leveraging coordination with the City of Columbus and the vision developed by Rapid5?How can the success of this district be supported and extended as we approach the completion of the "build-out" phase and approach the "maintain & sustain" phase?
