This three-story, private mixed-use development replaced two outdated prior commercial structures, including a small office building and a funeral home.
With any substantial new development such as this, the City is always interested in creating great community outcomes in partnership with private developers. In this case, new first floor commercial space, with large windows facing First Avenue and generous outdoor patio space, were incorporated, to activate the street in this area while also providing new opportunities for businesses to locate in our town.
Condominium units above provide new residential options for residents while blending with the scale of adjacent existing homes and businesses.
Rear parking will accommodate both commercial and residential users via a combined, single curb cut that consolidates vehicular traffic. Broadened sidewalks with new street trees along a continuous tree lawn support pedestrian safety.
The substantial private investment in these parcels permitted the City to invest in burying nearby overhead electrical lines and other systems components, furthering the City's incremental goal as requested by our residents of improving the civic realm throughout our historic downtown.
