I’d prefer leaving first ave as is and I find it to be about perfect. The flow of traffic and people is smooth calm and generally uninterrupted. Some of the larger trucks with trailers hauling large equipment are pushy but you kind of expect that. I watch a few runners and bikes go bye through out the day while dozens of walkers and their dogs amble by. It’s pleasant and idyllic and the little merchants along with the library and law offices etc seem to have just enough parking for events customers and deliveries. Having run and owned small businesses throughout my life I understand how difficult it is to make a small business work and these people deserve are support. We’re lucky to have them and they add to the enjoyment and convenience of being in grandview. On grandview Ave from fifth to just past goodale and on 1st to just past the library I’d like to have arches to showcase and connect the business district along with city offices. Kind of a gateway to let people know they’re somewhere special. We have a great bike trail running up goodale that connects grandview to downtown and all the surrounding communities. The bike trail that I find poorly done is the one through marble cliff and I think it makes the street confusing. My goal with the arches would also be to draw visitors to walk and explore a larger area which would draw new businesses. I’d like to see a little cafe that serves breakfast at the three story at first and broadview to help replace Paul’s fifth ave. Parking could be an issue.
