2025

On February 24, 2025, City Council passed Ordinance 2025-01. The installation of new signage and distribution of passes will take place in the Spring of 2025.

2024

In late 2023, the City became aware of parking pressure being experienced regularly by certain streets in our northeast neighborhood, appearing to result from vehicles belonging to patrons of businesses in Columbus along W Third Avenue parking on certain streets.

As a first step towards better understanding and evaluating on-street parking availability and usage patterns in this neighborhood, the City engaged MORPC to conduct parking counts across a two-week period, several times per day. The count and related report, covering the streets depicted below (generally bounded by Northwest Boulevard, Edgehill Road, and the City’s northern boundary south of W Third Avenue), was completed in late April 2024.

The parking count data indicated moderate parking pressure during some hours on some streets, which may be alleviated by changes to parking restrictions. Additionally, continued densification of both commercial and residential properties in the City of Columbus on W Third Avenue can be anticipated, which may heighten this pressure.

Responding to both considerations, the City developed preliminary recommendations for revised parking restrictions within our northeast neighborhood. We shared these recommendations with impacted owners and residents on May 22, 2024, followed by a comment period open until mid-June 2024. Based on comments received, the City will provide initial passes to residents free of charge. Each household will be eligible for as many resident passes as requested to cover cars in their own household, plus two guest passes.

Following public input and final review by City Safety Services, Parks & Recreation, Public Service, Planning, and Administrative staff, final recommendations for this new permit parking zone are as depicted below:
